DAVID MAUTNER.COM

We must all be more intelligent and disturbing in our daily life,
since Dave is no longer able to do his Lion's Share of The Work in that regard.

UPDATE: 4/22/11
Hello friends of Dave. I have a new story, which I heard two nights ago:

Aileen (The Great Love Of My Life) was in class at Napa College last semester, in December, and heard a guy in his early twenties refer to Mount Olympus.

Oh yes, he was talking about the park also known by the less poetic name of Westwood Hills.

So our man, our unrepentant incubus: Dave, names a hill after the home of The Gods while in a most exalted (and fractile) frame of mind, and strangers still call it by name twenty five years later.

4/29/11 I just got another memory in the mail, I'll have to start a bulletin board if more stories come, partially so I don't have to answer for reposting the things that folks want to say (a new Lenin? not my words). For Dave's memory here it is uncensored (but for the name):

so when i was in middle school, michael mautner came to talk to us about MUN, the model united nations at napa high. he got me really into international policy and michael was such a charismatic figure, a new lenin almost,i remember him coming in, wearing this most wonderful hat. david i met when i saw an ad for comic book sales posted somewhere, the newspaper, a streetpole? but i went over to his house to see the collection, and bought comics from him. i almost certainly still have them archived , boxed up.

so i used to see the tutor turtle flyers all the time, and eventually decided to collect them when possible/ but only one made it into my collection, the "nipplibertarians for mammary glandarchy". i never once suspected it was david. recently i pulled it out and ran a google search on the text, and google found your site.

the mautners were also very important to me during another situation and it's just one of those things, where someone just doesnt know how much positive influence they really had on so many people..

since i see you updated the site recently, i figured i'd share the little david story/ yeah, basically i remember him from school, and i also bought some comics from him once or twice, and remember his brother and the whole family quite fondly.

thanks for posting all those images, very cool.

Here are some images scanned from aging pages once passed around
among friends and some wary aquaintances; sometimes glued ruthlessly
to public venues (bulletin boards and, I think, backs of school bus seats;
can anyone corroberate?)

I hope to add a poetry index to this site, though there is but one seed poem
there now, and it certainly deserves to stand alone for as long as necessary.

Later I or others may give some insight into the various puns or the central image
of this poem (witnessed by a most unhappy Dave when he was more or less sick of Davis
and was having a walk and thinking about things, as I understand).

Without further delay I present two links, one to an index, one to a poem:

POETRY                               FLYERS

Send any Dave stories, poems, and uncensored memories (and plastic dinosaurs) to
Tutor Turtle

I'll also take any site suggestions,
this is a pretty minimal effort, I'll admit.
One flyer is missing as my versions are pretty badly stained,
and I put off doing the composite until Vista disabled my scanner.
